From the raw recording to a number you can defend
Step-by-step lessons for experimental scientists. Each one takes one technique from the raw file to the result, in the real windows of the toolbox, and explains what every step does to your signal and why. No code.

Short captions, figures first, details only when you want them. Your progress stays in your browser.
The blood-flow response to whisker stimulation
What the signal measures and why only relative changes count · recording well · reading raw data and its faults · cropping, downsampling, filtering, cutting trials and averaging, step by step · the numbers and what n is · reporting · an exercise with your own numbers checked.
ERPs and a P300 measure from cleaned EEG
Where the EEG comes from and how averaging reveals an ERP · recording well · looking at the data first · filtering, cutting trials, baseline and averaging, step by step · mean amplitude, latency and what n is · reporting · an exercise with your own numbers checked.

The laser Doppler signal rises when…
Speed is only half of it: the number of moving cells in the volume the light reaches counts too.
The signal grows with the number of moving red cells times their mean speed.
The light sees motion, not oxygen. Measuring oxygen needs other methods.
How to start
- Install the toolbox (free for noncommercial use) and make its demo files in the app (? Help → Generate all demo files…).
- Open the lessons: all lessons. They ask you for nothing; your progress and answers stay in your browser.
The guide walks through every window and the demo data page lists what each window should show.
This page and the lessons
They ask you for nothing, set no cookies and load nothing from other servers. Your light or dark choice, your progress and your answers are kept in this browser only and are never sent. At the end of a lesson you can rate it anonymously (Yes, Partly, No): only the number of each answer is kept, nothing about you.
